In associations, standards bodies, and private companies, details can make all the difference. Our process begins with a complete evaluation of our client’s goals and objectives. We then deliver a custom-tailored portfolio of services to address each client’s needs. We believe that custom-tailored services are crucial to ensure that our clients receive exactly what their organizations need.
In its initial stages, an association needs to develop a structure that will serve the interests of members and the community it wishes to serve. We can assist clients with the development of an initial business model, the creation of a mission statement, marketing and positioning the organization to prospective founding membership, the creation of bylaws and other legal documents, incorporation, and the establishment of all business elements—such as an address, bank account, and etc. Alliances Management has the experience and expertise required to advise on an appropriate business model, corporate structure, voting rights, and more.
Alliances Management plays a key function in bringing broad-based organizational knowledge that serves to support Member functions. We work with Working Group or Task Force leaders to execute activities and follow up on necessary action items; we handle all communications, logistics, and documentation pertaining to membership retention, renewal, and recruitment; we generate ideas to improve a client’s value proposition and align fees with the value received; and we identify ideal ways to leverage the membership base to execute on the organization’s objectives.
Board Support is more inward‐focused than Member Management services. Boards need to have meetings—either phone calls, webinars, or face‐to‐face discussions. Additionally, many associations place a premium on the minutes of the Board, often requiring legal review for the purpose of formally documenting conclusions, actions, and policies. The strategic actions that arise out of a Board meeting need to be executed, and a good management company takes these upon itself to implement. Finally, this service category often includes development of the agenda, pre‐read materials, and other support tasks.
Alliances Management clients offer a variety of certification, compliance, and training programs for both member organizations and non-members. As with other services, we customize our support of these initiatives client-by-client, but in general we offer the following: organization of “Test Fest” events, management of certification programs, issuance of approvals, compliance tracking, monitoring usage for “qualified” or “approved” marks, production of certificates and surveys, and more.
Whether the need is to streamline an ongoing company program, manage the process of building a new internal website, or implement a new worldwide program for external constituents, Alliances Management’s project management experts work with clients to define the scope of the project, develop an aggressive but achievable timeline, and manage overall budget. Our clients know well that we seek to exceed expectations—delivering a better result within or below budget.
Whether the need is for technical specifications or public-facing whitepapers, Alliances Management has experts with years of experience delivering well-written documentation to clients. We work with our clients’ technical teams or working groups to ensure that all aspects of a project are represented, and then we work quickly to produce a finished result. Whenever possible, we contract with clients on a project basis instead of an hourly rate so as to ensure completion within budget.
Even not‐for‐profit associations require financial and budget management to manage bank accounts, process member/owner contributions, pay expenses, process income and expense reports, coordinate tax filings, develop budget forecasts, review and track expense reports, and perform all financial logistics—filing of receipts, expense tracking, and more. For‐profit groups will also require processing of client application and membership payments. Alliances Management combines the need for tactical execution with a holistic view of our client’s organization, allowing us to make recommendations in the area of budgeting and financial management.
Alliances Management orchestrates a variety of events globally from concept to completion. These services include selecting appropriate venues, negotiating contracts, arranging appropriate meeting space, reserving sleeping rooms, spearheading advanced attendee communications, managing onsite registration and logistics, developing advanced materials, and arranging A/V requirements. For events, Alliances Management believes that details matter.
Website implementation is an important strategic consideration: If done properly, it can help to streamline human implementation costs for application processing, meeting management, and more. A thorough system should be implemented so that costs can be reduced and efficiencies reached for the management of the organization moving forward. At Alliances Management, we can develop a public‐facing website for our clients, an internal system for association management to share documents, and an internal system for both association management and client use (i.e. a system that partitions for services to consortium management, policy‐making bodies, and each client/member independently).
Alliances Management is capable of full marketing communications and public relations efforts, but it often works with a client’s chosen PR or strategic marketing firm. In this latter capacity, Alliances Management provides guidance and serves as the organization’s point of contact—but outside services are obtained for the majority of the concrete deliverables. On the more strategic side, the alliance could elect a more strategic press, advertising, and marketing plan—including development of press releases, creation of collateral and branding elements, advertising spend, electronic media, and more.
Alliances Management works with legal teams that are experienced in managing the legal needs of alliances and standards bodies. We believe that a client’s chosen law firm should have constant access to knowledgeable staff that understands the ins and outs of the organization. We interface with our clients’ chosen legal team to manage trademark and similar filings, develop and modify Bylaws, formulate intellectual property and anti‐trust procedures, maintain patent portfolios, assist with contract negotiation/review, develop an appropriate liability insurance policy, and implement NDAs and MoUs.
Alliances Management believes that the importance of properly executed general administrative functions is severely underestimated. Whether it is the timely delivery of business cards, arranging a conference dial‐in bridge, or organizing other aspects of a meeting, proper administration helps people make the most of their time so that they can be most productive. Alliances Management has experience working with cultures worldwide and understands the importance of being sensitive to today’s global organizations—along with their customs and personalities.
